Basic Nursing Assistant-Unit Clerk
REPORTS TO
Department Coordinator or Clinical Nurse Manager
POSITION SUMMARY
Under general supervision, performs a variety of general and specialized clerical support tasks related to departmental functions. The Unit Clerk provides assistance to staff to ensure patient information is collected and available in a timely manner. Greets customers and answers the telephone in a professional manner. Provides direct or indirect patient care. Computer schedule and information programs are maintained and updated in a timely manner, as appropriate
The Nursing Assistant provides basic nursing care to non-acutely ill patients and assists in maintenance of a safe and clean environment under the direction and supervision of the Registered Nurse (RN). Assists patients with activities of daily living when working in Patient Care Unit. Assists the RN in providing care to patients in the Cardio-Pulmonary Rehab department.
All aspects of the Nursing Assistant’s performance supports service excellence and a healing environment. The Nursing Assistant identifies and communicates needed unit resources or equipment to be included in budgets.
A 30-day notice is required when an employee resigns.
EDUCATION
Required: High School Diploma or GED equivalent
Patient-Age Populations Served
Participates in care to patients throughout the lifespan.
EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS
License/Certifications:
Required: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certificate for healthcare workers.
Maintains appropriate certifications
