Summary:

The Nutrition Assistant works in the kitchen and dining areas. Assists in the delivery of quality nutrition services by performing duties, which include, but are not limited to, service of resident meals, food preparation and sanitation of service ware and equipment for residents, tenants and guests.

Responsibilities:

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Food service:

    • Sets tables prior to meals, serves beverages and meals, sets up trays
    • Checks diet card to ensure resident is receiving proper therapeutic diet and adhering to food preferences
    • Ensures that residents have proper adaptive equipment
  1. Always observes infection control practices.
    • Maintains kitchen in a clean, neat and organized manner.
    • Implements “clean as you go” strategy.
    • Monitors food and equipment temperatures.
    • Utilizes proper hand washing techniques and wear gloves when preparing or handling food.
    • Sanitizes surfaces after use.
    • Follows cleaning schedules and records completed jobs.
    • Uses “first in, first out” procedures.

3. Prepares food items like simple salads, cutting fruits or vegetables, bake pre-made cookies, etc. Dishes up food items into individual servings as directed by the cook.

4. Clears tables after meals, uses proper sanitation procedures to wash tables, and counters.

5. Washes dishes by spraying dishes, loading dishwasher, allows dishes to dry, puts clean dishes and utensils away.

6. Perform cleaning duties as assigned.

    • Mops dining room and kitchen floors.
    • Disposes of trash and garbage in appropriate manner and as needed.

Hours will be dependent on patient census and workload. Ability and willingness to work a flexible schedule, to include after-hours and weekends as necessary.

No requirements or preferences regarding education.

Previous Experience Requirements:

EXPERIENCE:

    • Previous healthcare experience preferred.
    • Previous restaurant experience preferred.

Skills/Knowledge Requirements:

SKILLS:

Language Skills – Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language required.

Other Certifications/Requirements:

Required to be 16 years of age to apply,
