Certified Nursing Assistant or Nursing Assistant
Position Highlights:
Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU) is a 12 bed unit that provides quality, specialized, compassionate care to patients who are hemodynamically or medically unstable with one or more life-threating illnesses that require intensive monitoring, nursing care, and/or medical treatments. A multidisciplinary approach is utilized to provide patient and family centered care to assist patients in return to their optimum level of function. Patient care is managed by an Intensivist who will coordinate care between specialists. Patients and families are involved in the care planning and the transfer process. This is done to ensure smooth transition of the patient into another level of care designed to assist the patient in progressing towards an optimal level of health. Patients are admitted into the SICU utilizing a closed admission structure. Intensivists manage all patients in the SICU.
Example diagnoses within the SICU scope of care serve as guidelines for appropriate patient placement, but are not limited to the following:
- Multiple trauma
- Solid organ transplants (liver, kidney, pancreas, and intestinal)
- Organ failure and/or rejection of organs including liver, pancreas, kidney, and intestine.
- Post-operative (post-op) care for surgical interventions that include the liver, kidney, pancreas, intestine
- Severe metabolic, fluid and/or electrolyte imbalance

Certified Nursing Assistant
Perform delegated patient activities as assigned by licensed nursing personnel for the achievement of patient`s plan of care.
Required Qualifications:
• Minimum of 18 years of age required.
• High school education or equivalent required.
• Possesses a Certified Nursing Assistant certification in the state of Nebraska.
• Demonstrated effective communication skills required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days of hire required, must be from an American Heart Association (AHA) endorsed program (effective for new hires starting January 1, 2023 or later).
Preferred Qualifications:
• Knowledge of computer data entry and word processing preferred.
• Basic knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
Nursing Assistant
Perform delegated patient activities as assigned by licensed nursing personnel for the achievement of patient`s plan of care.
Required Qualifications:
• Minimum of 18 years of age required.
• High school education or equivalent required.
• Six months experience in patient care required or must be enrolled in nursing program.
• Demonstrated effective communication skills required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days of hire required, must be from an American Heart Association (AHA) endorsed program (effective for new hires starting January 1, 2023 or later).
Preferred Qualifications:
• Direct patient care experience preferred.
• Knowledge of computer data entry and word processing preferred.
• Basic knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
