CLERK TECH (CNA) MED/SURG, Full-time Weekends

Memorial Community Hospital and Health System (MCH) is seeking a compassionate and organized Clerk Tech (CNA) to join our Med/Surg department. As a Clerk Tech, you will play a crucial role in supporting the daily operations of the department, assisting with clerical tasks, and providing direct patient care duties.

Job Summary:

  • Shift Details: Three 12-hour shifts per week 10:00am to 10:30pm. Preferred weekend hours with one weekday shift.
  • Greet patients, visitors, and staff with professionalism, courtesy, and a friendly demeanor.
  • Receive, direct, and take messages for incoming phone calls at the nurses’ station and other designated areas.
  • Facilitate communication between staff, management, and Medical Staff.
  • Assist in maintaining department files and paperwork.
  • Support direct patient care under the supervision of nurse staff, following guidelines of a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) in the state of Nebraska.
  • Maintain department supplies and ensure stocks are replenished as needed.
  • Provide direct patient care, including assisting with bathing, eating, dressing, toileting, grooming, oral hygiene, skin care, and ambulation.
  • Obtain and document vital signs and other measurements in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) following unit standards.
  • Monitor patients’ conditions and promptly report any variances to the nurse for further assessment.
  • Respond to call lights promptly and attend to patient needs.
  • Assist in turning and repositioning patients to ensure comfort and prevent pressure ulcers.
  • Change bed linens as required and keep patient rooms clean and tidy.
  • Collect specimens as directed by nursing staff.
  • Measure and record intake and output of patients accurately.
  • Assist patients with walking, exercising, and moving while ensuring patient safety.
  • Prepare and serve food trays, as well as assist with patient feeding, documenting food consumption in the EMR.
  • Conduct hourly rounding, addressing pain, toileting needs, and patient positioning in the EMR.
  • Accept delegated tasks from nursing staff and other ancillary staff.
  • Encourage teamwork and assist in different departments during low censes periods.
  • Participate in problem-solving and performance improvement projects to enhance patient satisfaction.

Job Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Current licensure as a Certified Nursing Assistant in the state of Nebraska.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
