GENERAL SUMMARY:
The Certified Nursing Assistant is responsible for providing general nursing care to patients, treatments to patients, and participates in discharge planning under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN). This position reports to Nurse Manager, Charge Nurse, or Staff RN.

- Performs Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) for assigned patient.
- Serves patients meals/snacks/supplements; assists with and/or feeds meals/snacks/supplements; and records intake of meals/snacks/supplements as required by organization.
- Assists licensed nursing staff during treatment and examination of patient.
- Observes patients, records significant conditions and reactions, and notifies nursing staff of patient’s condition and reactions to drugs/treatments.
- Participates in patient discharge planning.
- Gives treatment/cares as directed by Registered Nurse.
- Changes bed linens, runs errands, directs visitors, and answers telephone.
- Takes and records temperature, blood pressure, pulse and respiration rates, and food and fluid intake and output, under direction of a licensed nurse.
- Documents on assigned medical records and worksheets to include but not limited to ADL flow sheets, vital signs, baths, and meals.
- Bathes patients when determined appropriate by the licensed nurse.
- Performs other related projects and duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
High School diploma or equivalency required. Active Nebraska Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) credential required. Must be active and with no disciplinary action on the Nebraska Nurse Aide Registry. One (1) year of hospital experience preferred.
OTHER CREDENTIALS / CERTIFICATIONS:
Basic Life Support (CPR) certification required. Bryan Health recognizes American Heart Association (for healthcare professionals), American Red Cross (for healthcare professionals) and the Military Training Network.
