Job Summary
The Certified Nurse Assistant is responsible for providing personal care services under the supervision of the appropriate personnel and is an integral member of the team.
Essential Functions
- Excellent communication skills with the patient, family, and other team members.
- Comfortable providing high quality care with minimal supervision.
- Understands the physical, emotional and developmental needs of patients served in Home Care.
- Observes, reports, and accurately documents patient status and care.
- Knowledge and competency of infection control procedures.
- Basic level nutrition and food preparation.
- Personal Care Support:
- Assist patients with personal care and daily activities including bathing, dressing, grooming, and feeding while ensuring their comfort.
- Utilize safe transfer techniques to support patient mobility and ambulation.
- Measure and obtain vital signs, assist with range of motion exercises, and apply heat/cold treatments as directed.
- Maintains patient confidentiality at all times.
- Perform various office tasks, including managing and ordering supplies, maintaining equipment logs, and entering patient information into electronic medical records.
Competencies
- Ability to read, write, and understand instructions in English or the language of the agency’s patients.
Qualifications
- Education/Experience:
- Successful completion of a Nursing Aide Program required.
- Current driver’s license and auto liability insurance required.
- Must be 18 years of age.
- Ability to read, write, speak and understand the English language required.
- Active Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR/BLS) Certificate preferred.
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Previous experience in hospital, nursing home, or home care preferred.
- Computer Skills preferred.
